About Bacardi Gold
Bacardí Gold is the barrel-aged counterpart to Bacardí's white rum: 40% ABV, aged in lightly charred American oak, and left with the colour the wood gave it instead of being filtered clear.
That single difference changes the drink. Where the Superior is light and neutral, the Gold carries vanilla, toasted oak and caramel with a medium body. It is warmer and rounder, and it has enough character to be tasted through a mixer rather than disappearing into it.
That makes it a better rum and cola than the white, because the oak and caramel meet the cola halfway. It also works over ice with a squeeze of lime, and in a dark-and-stormy style drink with ginger beer. It is not an expensive sipping rum, but it is not featureless either.
