Crown Royal Being Pulled from LCBO? 247Booze Has You Covered Across the GTA

Breaking news for Canadian whisky lovers: Ontario Premier Doug Ford has announced that Crown Royal will be removed from LCBO shelves starting February 2026. The decision comes in response to Diageo's controversial closure of its bottling plant in Amherstburg, Ontario.

But here's the good news: 247Booze currently has Crown Royal in stock and will continue to deliver it 24/7 across the GTA & more, including Ottawa, Calgary and Edmonton.

📰 What's Happening with Crown Royal?

In early January 2026, Premier Ford announced plans to pull Crown Royal—Canada's best-selling whisky—from LCBO stores. The move is a direct response to Diageo, Crown Royal's parent company, shutting down its Amherstburg distillery and consolidating production at its Gimli, Manitoba facility.

The controversy has sparked debate across the country, with politicians and whisky enthusiasts alike weighing in on what this means for Canadian-made spirits.

But regardless of where you stand on the politics, one thing is clear: If you love Crown Royal, you'll want to stock up before it disappears from LCBO shelves.

🍁 Why Crown Royal Matters to Canadians

Crown Royal has been a Canadian icon since 1939, when it was created to honour the royal visit of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. For nearly a century, it's been the whisky of choice for celebrations, gatherings, and quiet evenings at home.

Fun fact: Crown Royal's signature purple velvet bag has become almost as iconic as the whisky itself. Many Canadians have a collection of these bags—used for everything from storing coins to holiday gift wrapping.

Now, with the LCBO removal looming, that purple bag might become a rare sight on Ontario shelves.
